A Day In the Low-C Life of Chi Chung's Family !

8:30am - Breakfast

Chi Chung makes his "Chi Chung organic oatmeal", plus whole-wheat toast, vegan butter, organic jam and some organic fruit.

A good healthy breakfast is essential for an energetic day, but not only does the Wong family go for bodily health, they also keep in mind the health of the planet. Organic food is now a common term in Hong Kong and indeed it is believed to be the best way to have healthy food that has minimal impact on our planet, because the way it is grown is meant to be completely in harmony with nature. It is still debated, though whether going organic is lower in carbon than traditional farming, what's for sure it that it avoids using nitrogenous fertilizers, where nitrogen is a much worse green house gas than CO2. Organic produce requires more people to put a lot more intensive effort and care into growing it and is often pricier. If it poses a burden on your bills, try just switching one or two luxury items −e.g. every time you feel like chocolate or tea, go organic and enjoy the chemical-less moment.

Talk CO2...

  • Recycle 10 milk cartons or plastic bottles:
    Cut 1kg CO2
  • For every 10 aluminium can recycled:
    Cut 2kg CO2
