Convenience has long been one of Hong Kong's most valued attributes, and sure, convenience is nice. But it's no longer an acceptable excuse for being negligent to our impact on the environment. For convenience may make life easier, but not necessarily better.

In this age of global Climate Change, we are seeing new waves of ecoism in occidental countries that promise to make you fitter, happier and less stressed by helping to create better planetary health. One such wave is the Low-Carbon lifestyle, which is now not just for greenies but for all who want to realise a lighter and richer living. Like any diet though, it sounds scary in the beginning. The "ideal carbon weight" for an individual in order to save the world from catastrophic consequences , according to the world's leading researchers, is around 2.5 tonnes a year. Hong Kong's annual per capita carbon footprint is 6.5 tonnes (i.e. 6500kg), excluding flights. The average carbon footprint of registered users of this site is 13 tonnes, with flights counted!.
