Climate change is a global issue. It is the collective efforts of individuals and communities that can best prevent the potentially cataclysmic effects of global warming. A recent WWF HK opinion survey reveals that 92% of Hong Kongers are concerned about climate change-89% think that the public has responsibility to act, yet there are few outlets for such a concerned public. The Climateers program aims to meet the needs of this majority population, by providing an interactive and open platform to help, celebrate and bring together climate-saving efforts by active individuals and organisations.

Many cities in the Mainland have installed solar water heating panels on buildings. Shenzhen made it mandatory for all new residential buildings under 12 storeys to install solar water heating for residents.
